But it doesn't seem like they did that, either. Maybe if there was a more complicated system of several types of swings/blocks/dodges between you and the target, it would have made the relatively small number of weapons less bothersome. Personally I interpreted TB's remarks as having less to do with the literal raw number of weapons than simply a lack of mechanical depth in the combat. It's fine that it does those things, but why not extend that creativity to other aspects as well? I have a hard time believing they couldn't have conjured up something beyond a club, a spear, a bow, and a sling. If it makes the game less fun as a result, at least for the critic, it's potentially a valid point of criticism.īesides, that's rather selective realism in a game where you're taming/riding a variety of Mesolithic megafauna, and even seeing through the eyes of an owl as a scouting mechanic. It doesn't matter what the setting contrivance is that supposedly justifies it. "I want more weapons" - it's 10,000BC, how many weapons did they have back then!? lol

As far as I'm concerned, the day one patch fixed the performance issues he was experiencing.

Again, I have full respect for his opinion and don't care if he hates the game, this is just my 2 cents on what I took away from his review.Īs for the game-ready drivers they really aren't even needed and I don't think we'll see any (runs on the same engine as FC4). A lot of people look to TB for his reviews and take his opinion as a heavy influence. He seemed angry at the game and I don't believe he was as objective and neutral as he should have been.

I think TB is just sick of the FC series all together at this point and because the game contains elements of game play which he does not enjoy, I think he let his bias show through a little.

So his statements in this regard are pretty much unfounded. FC Primal ran great on the consoles at launch, isn't riddled with glitches, and as it turns out - it also runs well on PC, at launch. By comparison AC Unity ran like crap and had many glitches on ALL platforms (not just PC), before and after launch and still doesn't run great.

You can't expect a game that takes place in 10,000 BC to have anywhere near the amount of weapons and upgrade-ability as a game that takes place in modern times.Īlso, one thing that really bothered me about TB's review and something I believe is very misleading (even with game in the state it was in pre-day one patch), is that he said it was the "Far Cry Unity" of the FC series. That is some what of an unfair claim/comparison to make, IMO. Just because it's "the next Far Cry" game does not meant it has to have the same amount of weapons or more than the previous FC game or it is considered a step back/not as good as, the previous. Yeah, I totally get what he was saying from that perspective, but I think games like this need to be looked at in proper context. as he said in the video he'll follow up with a video detailing his performance once game-ready drivers are out TB reviewed the game at a time where there was no patch, nor were there game-ready drivers. the setting fits with the less amount of weapons but compared to FC4 it's a bit of a step back TB thought of it as an excuse that Primal does not have more weapons or weapon upgrades.
